Cape May Wedding Photographer : Marnie and John were married!

Wedding

Saturday was an amazing day to be a Cape May Wedding Photographer.  The sun and rain shared the day by taking turns, the gentlemen raced in Wildwood, the couples church ceremony ended in perfect time for a VFW parade to begin outside the church doors, the wedding party’s trolley broke down leaving them stranded, a beautiful rainbow appeared during dinner and the couple didn’t skip a beat and had an amazing night regardless!  I love that these two didn’t let anything stand in the way of their day!

The day began with the lovely ladies getting ready.  They were so calm and the energy was amazing.  My second shooter (and awesome friend!) Megan was with the guys at Hotel Alcott.  Marnie had so many personal details in her accessories.  Each item had a story, a purpose and a reason.  I love when brides add sentimental details, it adds such a beautiful touch to their day.

The couple had a full mass in an absolutely stunning church.  Just as we were about to exit the rain (and a parade!) began! Once we finally had the opportunity to leave, we  headed to the iconic Wildwood sign (per Marnie’s request) for some wedding party photos.  When then headed to their reception location, Hotel Alcott in Cape May while waiting for the weather to clear and complete the couples portraits!

On the way to the hotel, the trolley the wedding party was riding broke down.  The entire party was picked up and shuttled over by guests randomly passing by.  I don’t want to focus on this part of the day but I do want to share a valuable lesson!  Marnie allowed me to use my judgment when making our timeline for the day.  We had AMPLE time for portraits (nearly 3 hours including travel times!).  When this hiccup occurred and ate nearly an hour of our timeline, we were still ok!  We still had almost an hour remaining of portrait time and were able to get everything we needed done and had tie to spare!  The couple still made their cocktail hour and everything worked out great! I can never stress enough the importance of having a timeline with breathing room!

The couple and their guests enjoyed a gourmet cocktail hour and reception.  Marnie and John’s friends and family were so much fun and laughed, danced and sang the entire night away.  As dinner was served, the couple was given the most perfect rainbow.  They certainly had someone looking out fro them all day!

Marnie and John – thank you for having us capture such an amazing day!
