GET TO KNOW LEANNA
Hotel LBI was built in 2019 and is located in Ship Bottom NJ. This beautiful hotel greets you just as you touch on Long Beach Island over the Henderson Memorial Bridge, or locally called the Causeway. The hotel was designed to mimic the feel of grand hotels from the early 1900s with historic detailing and stunning interior designs that have an updated and vibrant finish. The decor seamlessly combines touches of Long Beach Island history, art, and a modern coastal feel with much help from the LBI Marine Time Museum. The hotels newly famous rooftop offers views of both the bay and the ocean. The hotel has 102 rooms, ranging from 600 - 1200 square feet. The indoor pool with retractable roof make for a perfect get away any time of year. On site valet or self parking under the hotel makes your visit easy to navigate. The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle to and from the beach, rentals of bicycles, beach badges, chairs and towel to make your stay as comfortable as possible. You can have your daily workout in the fitness center or an early morning jog on the beach.
Your getting ready location will vary based on your personal choices. There are a variety of hotel rooms you can rent or it may be possible to use the board room, the room in the hallway of the reception if needed. You can discuss this further with your planner at the hotel when the time approaches. Each hotel room has different features that are perfect for your getting ready photos. Many rooms have water views, all have spectacular natural light and plenty of space for you and your loved ones. There are large windows with crisp and clean designs of the rooms always make for beautiful photos. Often I suggest having your wedding party keep extra items in their own room or tucking into the closet of your room so they space always feels clean and open for the photos of your wedding day preparations.
Most couples choose a first look on their wedding day. At hotel LBI the second floor veranda is the most popular spot followed by using the reception room. Sometimes people like to use the balcony but the angles can be tough as there isn't muhc space for the photographers to always get the best angles. We like to keep your first look as private as possible. Your entire wedding day includes everyone you love, I like to make sure you get a few moments that are private and for the two of you. Once your first look is complete and you have a few quiet moments to yourself we will move on to portraits.
There are so many spots both on location at the hotel and off the grounds around Long Beach Island. Your timeline and the weather will determine the best places for your couples portraits. Often if we are leaving the hotel I suggest we go with just the two of you to make things more easier on the wedding party and to save time. If you are choosing to stay at the hotel the most popular locations are the balcony with the cedar shake siding, the lobby with the blue and white striped walls, the lounge area with the green and white walls, the living room lounge, stairwell and reception room. As needed we incorporate the board room and the outdoor veranda with string lights near the reception. If we choose to leave the grounds there are the beaches or the nature path close by. We will make a detailed plan together before your wedding about what portrait location will work best for you and will make the final decision in real time the day of your wedding based on the weather.
No one wants rain or high winds on their wedding day. It may not be ideal but this is out of our control. The good thing is that I always have a backup plan, or two. Living in the area my entire life gives me a unique advantage, I almost always have a solution or a location that is based on the directions of the wind. Extreme west wind? No problem, I have a hidden gem of a spot with tall reeds and grasses on the beach that can block the majority of that. This applies to flooding and all types of weather. There are times we simply need to stay at the hotel, there are many times we can alter our timeline with intention and still get you the outdoor portraits you have dreamed of. All of these wedding portraits were taken in extreme winds or rain and they all came out stunning!
The total number of people in your wedding party and the weather will help us determine where and how we do your wedding party portraits. If we left the grounds for your couple portraits and come back, usually I will have everyone else meet us in the reception room. From there we utilize that space, the living room or the front of the hotel for your portraits. The smaller your wedding party size, the more options we have. For transportation and time purposes most people choose to have their wedding party photos at Hotel LBI, but we can do something different if you would like. This will all be discussed and planned when we make your timeline!
You put time and energy into the decor of your ceremony space, often this is the best choice for your family pictures on your wedding day. If you are having a roof top ceremony this may not be the best option depending on weather or the times of day. The reception room has clean, crisp white shiplap walls that also make for an amazing space for these formal portraits. When planning for family formals we need to consider the mobility of everyone who needs to be there so that everyone is comfortable. When doing portraits I will do all of the "standard" combos and then ask everyone involved if there is anything we may have missed. In todays world there are many traditional and unique family dynamics and bonds and its important that we capture them all.
It is finally here, the ceremony. You have reached the moment all of your planning was for, you are ready to say " I do". At Hotel LBI you can choose to have the ceremony in the reception room, on the rooftop deck or off site. Your ceremony can be short and sweet or longer and sentimental. You are in charge. Create it to be exactly what you wanted. While you are saying your vows the kitchen staff is hard at work executing a delicious and gourmet cocktail hour for you and your guests. Once the ceremony ends the pressure is off and the party can begin!
Hotel LBI will provide a quiet space for you and your new spouse to enjoy a few moments together and enjoy the food you have spent so much time thinking about. Your guests are already starting to mingle and I know you are anxious to join the party but take the few moments to yourselves. Once you enter cocktail hour and begin to greet your guests, time will fly by. I pop in and out of cocktail hour but use this time to coordinate with venue stall and your entertainment team. I also like to capture as many details of your reception as possible once the candles are lit. The venue will bring you in to see the reception room first about 10 minutes before the cocktail hour is over. Depending on your guest list size and the weather cocktail hour is is either in the Living Room bar area or the outdoor veranda with the string lights, both are beautiful options.
Your guests are seated and eagerly waiting for your big entrance and first dance. Music is filling the room with the sound of laughter and glasses clinking. The flow of the evening will be worked out between your venue and the entertainment team. From here your guests enjoy a gourmet meal and have an amazing evening. They can walk onto the veranda for some fresh, salty air, catch some stunning sunset views or simply sit back and enjoy. The attentive staff is anticipating your guests needs and in the best way possible the night goes by quicker than you ever thought possible. The after party can continue at the bar or your hotel suite.
The sun moves throughout the year changing the exact science behind sunset photos. Luckily the rooftop gives panoramic views and many options. You can find the exact time of sunset for your wedding date here. It takes a little bit of luck and science to make perfect sunset photos. The types of clouds or lack thereof will ultimatley determine the type of light we get, how much glow or color. The roof top and pool can be unique choices for evening photos also!
