Hey there!
Thank you for taking a few minutes to come check out my blog about a snowy maternity photo session! In January we got a little snow storm here in New Jersey. Crystal reached out to me the Saturday of the storm and by Sunday morning we had a plan for her afternoon session! Crystal and her husband John are expecting their littlest love in about 2 months. They have made the decision to not find out the babies gender and I love that! Boy or girl, it doesn’t matter! They are just excited for a happy and healthy baby!
Crystal let me pick the location so I decided on my favorite holiday space with tall evergreen trees. I had hoped they would still have snow on their branches the day after the storm and – they did! This couple braved the freezing cold weather in order to get the images they wanted. It was brutal and Crystal toughed it out with no jacket, she was such a trooper! The snow is stunning but it does limit the amount of posing we can do. It takes sitting completely out of the equation and excludes some nooks and crannies of the locations I like to use. Crystal brought several scarves and one change of top to help break up the session and give several different looks.
My favorite images are the ones where the warm and golden sun is peaking through the trees. Golden hour is the perfect time to photograph. The warmth of the sun mixed with cool and chilly feel of the snow in a winter wonderland creates the perfect balance in their image gallery. Photo session in the snow are tough to pull off because they always come down to last minute planning, but when you are able to make it work it is absolutely amazing!
