Hello!

Thank you for taking the time to check out my 2018 Wedding Wednesday series! With over a decade of experience in the wedding industry, I wanted to share some tips and tricks I have learned along the way.  The first Wednesday of every month for 2018 I will share some valuable advice I have learned, witnessed and used.  On my new website, I added a section to the bottom of my “meet LT” page with my business totals, facts, and dreams.  I sorted through calendars, facebook and GASP even a bit of myspace to gather totals.  I have worked over TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY WEDDINGS! That is amazing to me! Over two hundred and fifty times I have gotten to see first dances, first kisses, and stunning gowns.  During that time I have learned a thing or two.  I want to share that wealth with you!

Today’s tip is a good one!

When you get your gown altered, ask to keep the cuts and “scraps”.  Take them home, and get some of them dirty.  I know, I know, this sounds crazy, but trust me!  Get a few scraps dirty and then use different methods to clean them. Dish soap, tide pen, club soda and anything else your seamstress may recommend. I hope your gown stays pristine for your wedding, but the reality is, accidents happen.  Knowing what will work well with the fabric of your gown and not leave marks will keep you calm, cool and collected when disaster strikes.

Things I have scrubbed out of wedding gowns, dirt (lots of dirt and mud), lipgloss (that was the WORST offender), penne vodka (a lot of it!), chocolate icing, and an entire glass of red wine.  Yes, an ENTIRE glass.

Other things you can do with the pieces of your gown:

• Have a necklace made.

• Save the longer pieces and use them as an heirloom to pass down to wrap around your daughter’s bouquet.
• Use the scraps of lace to make a Christmas ornament.
• Save to make into the ribbon for a ring bearers pillow as an heirloom.
