Hello!  Thank you fro taking the time to read today’s blog about a maternity photo session with a dog!  We spent some time in Barnegat Light on LBI to capture this soon to be family of three’s milestone.  Pregnancy is such a beautiful and amazing time in a persons life and should be documented!  We spent some time walking the park and documenting both wide sweeping landscapes and the beautiful, intimate connection between the couple and their pooch!

Below are some helpful tips and tricks to help your maternity (or any other photo session!) run smoothly with your dog being present.  Your dog is a member of your family, why not include them in documenting this amazing time in your life? I hope you find this advice helpful and it helps you design the PERFECT photo session for you!

 

Some tips for bringing your dog to your maternity photo session:

1. Make sure your location allows for animals.
2. Ensure you have someone to take the dog OR that weather is appropriate for them to be in the car for 30+ minutes so the photographer has time to work with the couple solo.
3. Bring treats to help the photographer bribe the pup!
4. If you will be near water a towel is needed!  Sandy paws turn to yucky mud quickly.
5. Ask your photographer if they are ok with animals, I am but others aren’t!
6. If your dog doesn’t like other dogs select a very secluded location to avoid any issues.
7. Tire your dog out as much as possible BEFORE the session.  It helps them not be as excited!
8. Bring water for your pooch, they appreciate it!
9. Try to use a collar you like a neutral colored leash, it is less distracting!
10. If your dog needs a harness that is ok but using just a collar is more appealing in final images.
