Thank you for reading today’s blog about some of my favorite images as an LBI Family Photographer!

 The list I have goes on and on for days of favorite images.  There is no rhyme or reason to why these are a few of my favorites. I have selected 5 images today that I adore and will give a brief explanation on each.  They are not technical masterpieces, my favorites usually aren’t.  My favorite images usually aren’t in the clients top 5.  I capture thousands and THOUSANDS of images each year.  Every now and again some capture my heart for no apparent reason.  I intend on adding to this blog series every few months as a look at things from my point of view.

1) This is my friend’s daughter.  This smile absolutely melts my heart every.single time. I see this photo. From a technical aspect there is too much going on  and the angle is wrong.  From an emotional standpoint it’s perfection.  Look at that smile!

2) The lighting. The hair across her face. Her blue eyes. My hometown beach. Her smirk.   I love this shot.

3) This was a family mini session and mom wanted to grab a few images of her newborn son with her older children.  She brought this box, the blankets and the pinecones. We had to find the perfect spot where he was in all shade.  I love the golden light behind him.  I can’t explain why but I am always drawn to this image.

4) I am not an innovator.  I am sure an image like this has been done a million time.  In the photography industry it is REALLY difficult to do anything new.  Regardless I had never seen this done and had wanted to try for the longest time.  This wonderful family were troopers that day.  We gave it a shot and I am so pleased with the results!  This image has be repined from my pinterest board thousands of times.  I guess others like it also!

5.) While shooting this engagement session in Asbury Park we stumbled on to this perfect tidal pool.  If I could go back in time I probably would have gotten down lower and shot at a different angle where their heads didn’t intersect with the rocks as much.  But perhaps I shot this way to avoid blowing out the sky and making that the feature.  When you are shooting with natural light you can choose to have your subject (the people) exposed properly or you can expose so the background is pretty. With out lighting or photo shop it is hard to get both perfect.  I prefer natural light, it’s my thing.  Every time I look at this image I smile.
