Thank you for reading today’s blog about Harvey Cedars family portraits!
On Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start of the LBI summer season, the Hanish family hired me to do their beach portraits. It was their parents 50th wedding anniversary and the entire family was on Long Beach Island for a long weekend. The weather hasn’t been the greatest here for the holiday weekend, but it held out for our session. I love how you can see in the photos the way the light changed during our time together. It started warm and golden with darker clouds behind them and went to bright and light as the sun made it’s way down over the bay. After our session, on my way home, I missed the height of the sunset but I was able to grab an image of it’s aftermath, and it was beautiful!
Our session included images of the entire family, siblings, individuals of the children, the smaller family units and the couples together. I like spending time documenting each dynamic within the large family group. I think it’s important to showcase all aspects of the family to help round out a session. I love that they brought their parents wedding portrait from fifty years ago. We were able to work it into the images in a few different ways during the session. The family opted to wear shades of white, ivory and khaki and all looked amazing! The Hanish family was wonderful to work with. I hope their next fifty years are even more beautiful!
