This session was one of my favorites from the summer of 2016!  The sun was not out and the weather appeared gloomy. As a photographer I LOVE those types of days.  The blue water and vibrant sunshine is beautiful but not fighting mother nature with shadows and harsh light makes my photographer heart swoon!  This beautiful family of three was an absolute pleasure to work with. I adored the simple color palate they chose for their wardrobe and the adorable smile on this baby girls face.

Here are some great tips and tricks for Long Beach Island family photos, or any type of portrait session!

1. We are at the mercy of Mother Nature.  Lighting is key to good photos.  I like to schedule my sessions one hour before sunset, or even better – at sunrise!
2. Relax!  Beach vacation portraits are about the memories you are making and not about perfect hairstyles.  It may be a little windy, embrace the salty air!
3. Wear clothes that coordinate but don’t necessarily match.  Pick your favorite outfit and use the color scheme in that to compliment one another!
4. Be open minded.  Photos on the beach with the ocean in the back are amazing, but have faith I have options that can include that and MUCH more!
5. Make sure the kids are well fed before and bring snacks!  Many families get dressed up and go to a nice dinner after.  Hungry kids don’t make for big smiles!
