Thank you for checking out today’s blog about family photos in the Barnegat Bay! Earlier this week I met with the Harris family at their home and we took their boat into the Barnegat Bay for a family session. Their boys were so sweet and well behaved and a complete joy to work with! We arrived at our destination (a private, random island!) much earlier than we anticipated. This gave us plenty of time to let the kids relax, enjoy and explore a bit.
Because we had so much time during their session I was able to take my standard portrait approach and a little bit of documentary style. If you have small children and we have worked together you know that I work FAST. My usual style is to move through the necessary photos quickly and then simply use the time we have left as needed. The Harris family session was the complete opposite. Since we were waiting for sunset, we were able to step back and let everything unfold on it’s own. This session was truthfully one of the most relaxed and easy going sessions I have done in a long time. The interaction between the family was organic and had a fun, upbeat energy.
During our session parents, Clark and Jessica, took a few moments to themselves and we captured some portraits of just the two of them. As the sun began to set we took photos in the bay with an amazing sunset backdrop. We completed the session and headed back to land with a sunset boat ride. It was a beautiful evening and I wouldn’t have changed a thing!
